Happy Happy Thanksgiving!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here in Canada.

Normally we try and get together with family.

Or we pull together a meal with the usual Turkey or Ham and related trimmings.

But this year we decided to do something a bit different.

Sushi.

Seriously.

When you have a wife who hates touching that slimy, raw turkey carcass,

a husband who really doesn’t like turkey, and who ends up being the one to prep and cook said bird,

and children who chant “Sushi, sushi, sushi!”, every single time we offer them a choice of where to eat out,

you really have no choice, but to resort to this:

Thanks Mom and Dad for joining us and lending a bit of authenticity to our family celebration.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our loved ones!

  1. Absolutely BRILLIANT! I agree on the whole gross turkey carcass thing. If we didn’t travel out of town for our Thanksgiving I’d be tempted to do the same. But I’m lucky, my mom considers our travel my contribution to the meal, so at least I don’t have to prepare anything. I just load up on her home made stuffing.

  2. Awesome, we are not a turkey family, maybe a turkey roll at Christmas but thats it. Just think, next Thanksgiving, Samuel will be eating with you!!!

  3. Looks like a lot of fun. I’m getting excited about our first Thanksgiving with Ivy.

  4. I second the sushi idea! I don’t mind eating turkey, but do not like all the prep work to get it prepared or all the *obligatory* side dishes. Too much time spent in the kitchen, and not enough visiting and talking with family. Glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal together!
