<\/a>\u00a0<\/div>\n

Faith and her friend J have been very busy\u00a0for the past 6 weeks or so.\u00a0\u00a0They decided to hold a show in our backyard for\u00a0their friends and family.\u00a0\u00a0A script was written which consisted\u00a0of two dance numbers and one drama.\u00a0 They created a backdrop, chose costumes and wrote and delievered invitations.\u00a0\u00a0A snack booth and a tag sale area were also set up.\u00a0 And then they practiced.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They practiced\u00a0almost daily.\u00a0 The most amazing thing was seeing their excitement and teamwork.\u00a0 I mean\u00a0these two 9 year olds really dedicated themselves to putting on an amazing show, dress rehearsals and all.\u00a0 I know Faith prayed for good weather.\u00a0 She hardly slept all night.\u00a0 And then yesterday dawned rainy and cool.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, we saw a clear break and we set up our yard and placed the chairs.\u00a0 I set off to deliver Garnet and Faith to their classes and that’s when I drove into it.\u00a0 A sheer wall of rain.\u00a0 It was a downpour and it was headed our way.\u00a0 I quickly called James at home and begged him to quickly take down the show area and bring everything inside to the schoolroom.\u00a0 I felt sick.\u00a0 Off I went to pick up Faith early from her class and let her know we’d had a change of plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As I picked Faith up, we were still hopeful that it would pass us by.\u00a0 We talked about how God could<\/em> make the rain go by us and into the draw just behind our house.\u00a0 We talked about trusting Him to know best and yet asking Him as our Daddy to do the right thing for us.\u00a0 We drove down the main road toward home and only a few hundred feet away from our turn-off the rain stopped!\u00a0 Our hearts soared and Faith was cheering in the backseat!\u00a0 And then we turned the corner onto our road and were hit by another wall of rain.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I pulled the van in to the driveway and Faith was off to call J.\u00a0 Would anyone still come?\u00a0 I didn’t know if the neighbour kids would be here but I knew their family would (including Stephen who was currently driving over a mountainous highway through that same storm to get\u00a0to the\u00a0show\u00a0on time).\u00a0 Duct tape in hand the back drop went up on the school room wall.\u00a0 Faith gasped<\/em>!\u00a0 Oh yes she did.\u00a0 Tape on my wall is a huge taboo around here.\u00a0 She told me, “You must really care about my show Mom if you are using duct tape on your walls!”\u00a0 Sigh<\/em> – yes I am a a bit, umm particular about my paint.\u00a0 Anyway, back to the main story…<\/p>\n

We ran around and set things up the best we could.\u00a0 The girls were so nervous and excited.\u00a0 The energy was very high around our house.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And you know what?\u00a0 Kids came, quarters in hand.\u00a0 My schoolroom was full with neighbour kids, grandparents, parents, siblings, an auntie and cousins.\u00a0 Popcorn was popped and purchased.\u00a0 Lemonade was drank and bracelets, books and knick-knacks and treasures were purchased.<\/p>\n

Act 1: Here We Go Again<\/em><\/p>\n

A hit.\u00a0 Some nerves, but they pulled it off with smiles.\u00a0 Lots of popcorn refills from the crowd.<\/p>\n

Act 2: Cheetah Sisters<\/em><\/p>\n

They hit their groove.\u00a0 Extra flair.\u00a0 Again more purchases made – handled by their two stage managers<\/em> (and yes, they thought of everything!) – one sister and one friend.<\/p>\n

Act 3: The Country of Doom<\/em><\/p>\n

A vampire drama (ahem<\/em>, not my choice of content, but very funny).\u00a0 Three songs were sung (written and again, choreographed by the two girls).\u00a0 Smiles and laughter were shared.\u00a0 Two Moms cheeks were a bit pink.\u00a0 As J’s Mom mentioned,\u00a0I don’t think either of us would have had opportunity or nerves to put something like this on.\u00a0 And the neighbour kids?\u00a0 The best part was a comment I overheard from one of the older boys as they headed out the door.\u00a0 That was SO cool!<\/p>\n

One more thing.\u00a0\u00a0Something for me to treasure in\u00a0my heart.\u00a0 Faith\u00a0announced last night in an off handed way.\u00a0 You know, I think it worked out better having it in the house.\u00a0 I’m so glad!\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yes honey, that’s right.\u00a0 Your Daddy<\/em> knew all along.\u00a0<\/p>\n
