It’s taken me days to wrap my mind around what to write.<\/h2>\n

We waited and waited for this day and I really think that for me, I stuffed down a lot of what I have been feeling about Samuel until Sunday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I mean, at first in the summer,\u00a0I couldn’t even believe that I was to be his new Mama.<\/p>\n

Then there was the matter of the Canadian approvals.<\/p>\n

Then I wondered, would we manage to get our dossier to the CCAA in time?<\/p>\n

And then here we were, getting ready to meet our son face to face.<\/p>\n

So Sunday night we were so excited.<\/p>\n

We realized with the time change we had last Saturday night that our time with him would be an hour earlier.<\/p>\n

We prepped the video camera.<\/p>\n

We sat down with the kids gathered around us.<\/p>\n

And we waited for that first message that asked us to hit the call button.<\/p>\n

And then all of a sudden there he was!\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Hey-yo”, in a sing song voice.<\/h2>\n

And it was all over.<\/p>\n

I can’t speak for Stephen, but I had the biggest case of stage fright.<\/p>\n

Like a young girl\u00a0over her first crush.<\/p>\n

This is no longer some abstract idea to me that I can control and keep in an emotional box.<\/p>\n

He is no longer just sweet Samuel.<\/p>\n

He is my son.<\/h2>\n

And I ache to have him here with the rest of our herd.<\/p>\n

I need to get there.<\/p>\n

Someone is missing and suddenly I know it as well as I know anything.<\/h2>\n
